Personal Background:

This is my fourth year at Golden Valley High School in Merced, CA and my third year at
Merced College.  Prior to GVHS, I taught at an all-boys school in Los Angeles, CA.  Before that
I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in a tiny country in West Africa called The Gambia.  I was an
agroforestry volunteer from 2000 - 2002 in a village of 200 people called Kora Jula Kunda.
No, I did not have running water or electricity.  Yes, I had a hole in the ground outside for a
bathroom.

I love to travel and love new challenges.  That is why I became a teacher.  Before I was a Peace
Corps Volunteer I worked in the chemical industry for almost 2 years and I realized I needed to
do something more interesting and rewarding than watching paint dry.  Teaching is a profession
and a passion that I can take where ever life leads me.
